TAG2023 ANNUAL CONFERENCE | Technology Association of Grantmakers

Call for Sessions

What Might You Share with Peers?

Peer learning is invaluable and we all have something to share. Perhaps it's a 10-minute tool demo about your implementation of multi-factor authentication, or perhaps it's lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic. Maybe you're seeing key trends in data governance or security outsourcing or staff retention. We all have something to share.

The 2022 TAG Annual Conference is November 14 – 17, 2022 in San Antonio, Texas.  TAG2022 is THE place for thoughtful conversation and meaningful network building. Join us as we reconnect and reignite.

Future Philanthropy is this year’s focus, providing a framework for exploring ideas and tools to advance the mission of philanthropy through technology. TAG2022 will explore pragmatic ideas to meet the needs of a changing landscape among these three tracks:
  • Data & Knowledge
  • Technology & Security
  • Culture & Leadership
The call for sessions is now closed.
See the information below to learn about the proposal evaluation process.
Session Format Ideas

  • Panel
  • Tool demo
  • Debate
  • Hands-on workshop exercise
  • Engagement techniques that bring in all the voices in the room

Proposal Evaluation

Proposals will be evaluated on the following criteria:
  • New voices, new topics: We strongly encourage workshop proposals that come from, and/or include, first-time presenters and new and diverse voices.
  • Deep alignment with core themes: Sessions should provide participants with understanding and/or practical tools that will help them advance their work, strategy, or leadership in one of three areas: Data & Knowledge, Tech & Security, or Culture & Leadership.
  • Trending/Innovative: We are looking for a wide range of topics that showcase new and emerging work and innovation and break-through models. We look for sessions relevant to what’s happening in philanthropy today and that anticipate future issues in the field.
  • Relevant to different types of funders: TAG conference participants are a diverse group of grantmakers including private, family, corporate, and community foundations as well as partners and vendors who support the sector.
  • Interactive learning format: Sessions should be highly engaging and interactive, employing innovative learning techniques and dynamic formats that could include: topic debates, participatory games, hands-on exercises, learning to use new tools, or other practices designed to draw all attendees into the discussion. All elements should be designed with thoughtful, relevant learning objectives, and crafted to meet those objectives.
Note for Session Designers

Session Designers (lead presenter if part of a group) are responsible for all aspects of the session including:
  • Developing and finalizing content
  • Identifying speakers/panelists/moderators
  • Providing appropriate supporting materials and handouts.

All presenters and their contact information and brief bios must be submitted with this proposal.

TAG staff and the Conference Committee will work with Session Designers to ensure the presenters and moderators advance the conference objectives and meet standards of quality.

Presenters and moderators must:
  • Register for the conference
  • Participate in a planning call with TAG
  • Meet all deadlines for conference materials

WHAT ATTENDEES ARE SAYING

"This was, by far, one of the best conferences I’ve been to in terms of shared learning and networking. I had a blast – and as a “TAG Newbie” I felt so welcome by everyone I met and engaged with. I feel like I’ve found my people!"

“I had an incredible experience and would recommend to anyone in the #philanthropytech sector. It was wonderful to meet so many great people and hear about the great work they do. The best part was the opportunity to engage in stimulating conversations about the current and future state of philanthropy.”
